5 Tips for Dealing with Holiday Stress and/or Depression

1. Plan Ahead
Come up with helpful routines, such as reading a book or napping, and write them into your schedule. In between shopping and baking, make sure these routines don't fall by the wayside.

2. Avoid Family Conflict
If you know there might be conflicts, prepare a neutral response, such as, "Let's talk about that another time," or, "I can see how you would feel that way."

3. Allow for Grieving
There may be family members or friends who are no longer with us that can cause additional grief during the holidays. Remember, there is no one right way to grieve but it's important to allow yourself the opportunity. Talk with someone or possibly join a support group.

4. Get Adequate Sleep
Don't skip out on any zzz's during the holiday season. Make sure you are getting plenty of rest so you are well equipped for all of your holiday festivities. This will also help you deal with unexpected issues that may arise.

5. Prioritize Your Health
Get your workouts in. Put them on your schedule and don't make excuses!
